Industry Accreditation

Azure has a large array of accreditations worldwide.  For example, in Australia, Microsoft Azure is accredited for the Australian Certified Cloud Services List based on an IRAP assessment.

Security Systems

Security and privacy are built right into the Azure platform, beginning with the Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) that addresses security at every development phase from initial planning to launch, and Azure is continually updated to make it even more secure. Operational Security Assurance (OSA) builds on SDL knowledge and processes to provide a framework that helps ensure secure operations throughout the life cycle of cloud-based services. Azure Security Centre makes Azure the only public cloud platform to offer continuous security-health monitoring.

Cyber Protection

Microsoft has leveraged its experience of building enterprise software and running some of the world’s largest online services to create a robust set of security technologies and practices. These help ensure that Azure infrastructure is resilient to attack, safeguards user access to the Azure environment and helps keep customer data secure through encrypted communications as well as threat management and mitigation practices, including regular penetration testing.

  • Managing and controlling identity and user access to client environments, data and applications by federating user identities to Azure Active Directory and enabling multi-factor authentication for a more secure sign-in.
  • Encrypting communications and operation processes. For data in transit, Azure uses industry-standard transport protocols between user devices and Microsoft data centres, and within data centres themselves. For data at rest, Azure offers a wide range of encryption capabilities up to AES-256, giving its clients the flexibility to choose the solution that best meets their needs.
  • Securing networks. Azure provides the infrastructure necessary to securely connect virtual machines to one another and to connect on-premises data centres with Azure VMs. Azure blocks unauthorised traffic to and within Microsoft data centres, using a variety of technologies. Azure Virtual Network extends the on-premises network to the cloud through site-to-site VPN.
  • Managing threats. To protect against online threats, Azure offers Microsoft Anti-malware for cloud services and virtual machines. Microsoft also employs intrusion detection, denial-of-service (DDoS) attack prevention, regular penetration testing and data analytics and machine learning tools to help mitigate threats to the Azure platform.

User Access

Direct access to the Azure servers is closely controlled through complex passwords and IP address authentication.  All Fixus clients are allocated their own “instance” in the database, which keeps their databases and client data physically separate from that of other organisations.  All Fixus software users are allocated user id’s and passwords by either Fixus Technologies or the managing PHN administration staff.  Passwords must be between 6 and 20 characters in length, contain at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and one number.  All Fixus users have ready access to a user details screen to enable the straightforward updating of their password as required.

Data Backups

All Fixus databases are backed up on a 15 minute differential backup cycle.  Therefore, in the event of a database corruption or other significant data issue, a restore can be performed to within 15 minutes of the incident occurring.  A complete backup of all databases and folders is performed overnight as well.  Additionally, backups are mirrored to a geographically separate site, also located in Australia.

System Availability

Fixus CIMS software through the Azure cloud services has an uptime commitment of 99.8%.  This excludes scheduled maintenance and upgrades of the Fixus software and also excludes any downtime caused by Internet outages at the client or other user sites.
