Frequently Asked Questions

These frequently asked questions have been provided to give a quick reference to common queries; They provide basic information, sometimes about fairly complex topics so please ask us for more information if you think we haven't answered the question in enough detail.

General

What programs are supported?

Unlike other applications within the acute and community health sector in Australia the Fixus solution is completely customised for each supported health program. Fixus currently supports PAC, HARP, Community Health, Residential Inreach and Carer Support Services.

Can we access more than one health program from the same login?

Yes. One installation of the Fixus solution can give you access to as many of the health programs as you purchase licenses for.

Can Fixus integrate with our central Patient Management System?

Yes. Fixus has several key points of integration that allow you to bring patient information across from your central patient management system.

Community Health MDS

What version of Community Health MDS is supported?

Version 3.02 of the Community & Women’s Health MDS.

Do you update the Community Health MDS support as part of your support agreement?

If your health program requires Community Health MDS support then your support agreement will include a fee for Community Health MDS updates.

How does the Fixus solution deal with Community Health MDS data validation?

The Fixus solution has a process that validates all data against the Community Health MDS standard before submission can be made. This ensures that all information transmitted to the Department of Health has already been checked against the published rules. This reduces the number of errors returned and ultimately streamlines the processing and collection of data.

VINAH

What version of VINAH is supported?

Version 8.0

Do you update VINAH support as part of the support agreement?

If your health program requires VINAH support then your support agreement will include a fee for VINAH updates.

How does the Fixus solution deal with VINAH data validation?

The Fixus solution has a process that validates all data against the VINAH standard before submission can be made. This ensures that all information transmitted to the Department of Health has already been checked against the published rules. This reduces the number of errors returned and ultimately streamlines the processing and collection of data.

Licensing

What type of licensing does the Fixus solution support?

Seat based licensing.

A seat is a single user login on a single device. Therefore if one user logs in on their computer, this is one seat taken. If the person was then to use login via their iPad, at the same time, this is two seats. If two people login from the same computer in different browsers, this again is two seats. So for each time a user logs in from a new device, this uses a seat. If they login from the same device, even if they have closed their browser and reopened a new session it still is only one seat.

What happens when the total number of seats are used up?

A message indicating that the number of seat licenses has been exceeded will be displayed. At this point and until someone signs out of the system this user will not be granted access.

Will my licenses work across multiple programs?

Yes.

We have a need to increase our workforce temporarily inorder to enter data. Can we temporarily increase our licenses?

Yes. Fixus supports the use of time limited licenses. This class of license can be purchases for short periods of time allowing you to manage increased user numbers without the need to purchase a set of full licenses. Once the time period is up the license expires.

Technical

What technology is the Fixus software based on?

The Fixus solution makes use of the Microsoft set of technologies including; Windows Server, SQL Server, IIS Web Server and .Net 4.0.

Can Fixus be accessed from outside of the organisation?

Because Fixus is a web based application, industry standard SSL encryption technology can be used to secure external connections to the web server.

Security is typically something that each health organisation has individual policies around so this is a topic that we will advise on but leave to the ITC department to implement as they see fit.

Can we access the database directly?

Yes. Fixus has a very straight forward database structure and we are more than happy to allow health providers to access (read) information directly as needed. We do ask that you contact us about your needs beforehand to make sure you are looking in the correct place for the information you seek.

Writing directly into the database without prior agreement is not permitted as this can cause corruption.

What integration options are available?

Fixus was designed from the very beginning to be a highly connective solution. It supports Active Directory authentication, HL7, Argus, SOAP and custom plugin support.

Which web browsers are supported?

The Fixus solution supports the following browsers as a minimum; Microsoft IE 7.0, Firefox, Chrome and Safari.

Does Fixus work on Android devices?

Yes. The Fixus solution works on most devices as long as they have a supported web browser.

Does Fixus work on the Apple iPad?

Yes. The Fixus solution works on most devices as long as they have a modern web browser. With the Apple iPad in particular we have avoided using Adobe Flash as this does not work on these devices.

Will Fixus integrate with our Active Directory server for authenticating users?

Yes. Fixus fully supports the Active Directory protocol giving you a single centralised control system for authentication.
