The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) is an important component of the government-subsidised aged care system. The program is designed to enable older Australians who need support to live independently at home. The program is generally viewed as a precursor for those people with complex needs and ultimately those that can no longer live at home.

CHSP replaced the Commonwealth Home and Community Care (HACC) program, National Respite for Carers Program (NRCP), Day Therapy Centres (DTC) program and the Assistance with Care and Housing for the Aged (ACHA) program.

The CHSP program is administered by a range of service providers, generally not for profit organisations, that deliver local support and care services. A key funding requirement of Service Providers administering CHSP is DEX (link to page) data aggregation reporting.
